Dr. Tom Carlos

Thomas Carlos, DVM MS, otherwise known as “Dr. Tom” graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1985, then obtained his Masters Degree in Surgery and Medicine from Auburn University. Dr. Carlos did an internship at the American Animal Hospital in Chicago.

In 1990, he opened his first veterinary practice in the Florida panhandle and has since opened and maintained several veterinary hospitals throughout the state. He is an avid tennis player, fisherman, diver and Doggie Dad to Zoe & Darla.


Dr. Laurie Aleixo

Laurie Aleixo DVM graduated from UC Davis in 1999. She owned her clinic in California for 14 years, before moving to Florida.She enjoys working with all animals, working part time with Harbor Branch, as the on call veterinarian for cetacean strandings. She also volunteers for FWC with the rescue and release of manatees. She currently has 3 rescue dogs, but at one point she had 8 dogs, 2 cats, fish and a squirrel. She is an avid scuba diver, paddle boarder and loves spending time with her husband and 2 sons.


Barbara and Duchess

Hospital Manager

Barbara has been managing this hospital for six years now since it has opened in October of 2012. Barbara has worked in the veterinary industry for 29 years now as a CVT. Her fur babies include Duchess a 9 year old Rottweiler, Baby, Keepurr, Letty and Poetry Man (Persians). Not to forget Hobo (DSH) rescue cat.

“I enjoy using my Technical skills from time to time and educating clients on preventive health and care. As a manager I enjoy sharing my experience and leadership skills to facilitate a well-rounded team and enjoy the challenges that each day brings and the need for more education as I evolve in this field.”

“I enjoy caring for my four legged flat faces ( Persians) and showing them in CFA”. I also enjoy spending my spare time outdoors golfing, lazy days on the beach, boating and fishing. I also enjoy watching sports and Family dinners on Sunday.



JoAnna has worked in the veterinary industry since 2016. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new people and getting to know their furry family members! She has 3 pets: Bronx, a Cur Hound mix; Crash, a tabby DSH; and Haze, a black DSH.




Nia has been in the veterinary industry since 2013. She also attended the Florida Institute of Technical Arts in Orlando. Her favorite part of the job is walking into the hospital and not knowing what to expect! She also loves working with different animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds.

In her spare time, she is a cheerleading coach for a little league team and she enjoys relaxing and sharing laughs with her friends and family. She also likes to spend time with her Shih Tzu, Pineapple. Nia also volunteers at the Humane Society.



Shannen has been in the veterinary industry since 2016 and loves working with animals and their owners. Her favorite part of the job is being able to help clients be knowledgeable enough to take the best care of their pets. She currently has an American Cocker Spaniel, Nala, who was given to her as a college graduation present. She has always had a passion for animals both exotic and domestic. Shannen earned her Bachelors degree in zoology and she also interned at a zoo working with mammals in 2014.


Brianna joined the team in 2017 and has enjoyed gaining experience with us. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with so many different animals in so many different situations.

She has a Lab mix named Sadie May and a Maine Coon named Buddy. She loves to go to the beach and go on adventures with her puppers.


Kennel Assistant
Izabel has been in the Veterinary Industry since 2017. Her favorite part of the job is building a relationship with the animals. Izabel has an 8 year old yellow lab named Faith and a 7 month old Pitbull Catahoula named Blue.


Diana has been in the veterinary industry since 2011, after attending a veterinary assisting course at Orange Tech (Westside Campus) in Winter Garden, FL. Her favorite part of the job is being able to help improve the quality of life for patients and making sure owners have happy, healthy pets for many years. She recently moved to Fort Pierce from Ocoee, FL.


Monica has been in the veterinary industry since 2014. He favorite part of her day is working with animals all day long. Monica has an American Bulldog named Precious, a tiger domestic short hair named Mister Sphlers, a retired Thoroughbred Race horse named Maximus King, and an Appaloosa Quarter horse named Cocoa.


Jennifer is new to the veterinary industry. Her favorite part of the job is having animals around her all day and interacting with the welfare of everyone’s mans best friend. She has a Domestic Shorthair cat named Miley. She also has two dogs; a mini poodle names Chickie and Jack Russell named Pig.
