Dr. Tom Carlos
Thomas Carlos, DVM MS, otherwise known as “Dr. Tom” graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1985, then obtained his Masters Degree in Surgery and Medicine from Auburn University. Dr. Carlos did an internship at the American Animal Hospital in Chicago.
In 1990, he opened his first veterinary practice in the Florida panhandle and has since opened and maintained several veterinary hospitals throughout the state. He is an avid tennis player, fisherman, diver and Doggie Dad to Zoe & Darla.
Dr. Laurie Aleixo
Laurie Aleixo DVM graduated from UC Davis in 1999. She owned her clinic in California for 14 years, before moving to Florida.She enjoys working with all animals, working part time with Harbor Branch, as the on call veterinarian for cetacean strandings. She also volunteers for FWC with the rescue and release of manatees. She currently has 3 rescue dogs, but at one point she had 8 dogs, 2 cats, fish and a squirrel. She is an avid scuba diver, paddle boarder and loves spending time with her husband and 2 sons.
Dr. Michael Ponte
Dr. Michael Ponte is a 1981 graduate of college of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. Dr. Ponte is an AVMA, FVMA, AAV and University of Florida Veterinary Medical Alumni Council member. He has also received the University of Florida’s Presidential Recognition award.
Currently Dr. Ponte only treats dogs, cats and pocket pets. But does have many years of experience with exotic pets and birds.
Dr. Ponte is committed to excellent patient care through client education and contemporary medical and surgical equipment.
Barbara and Duchess
Barbara has been managing this hospital for six years now since it has opened in October of 2012. Barbara has worked in the veterinary industry for 29 years now as a CVT. Her fur babies include Duchess a 4 year old Rottweiler, Raisin, Drama, Baby, Keepurr and Poetry Man (Persians).
“I enjoy using my Technical skills from time to time and educating clients on preventive health and care. As a manager I enjoy sharing my experience and leadership skills to facilitate a well-rounded team and enjoy the challenges that each day brings and the need for more education as I evolve in this field.”
“I enjoy caring for my four legged flat faces and showing them in CFA. I also enjoy spending my spare time with my husband Reed, and 2 children Ashley and Garrett. On my spare time I enjoy lazy days on the beach, boating and fishing.”
Angela has been in the veterinary industry for 5 years. Her favorite part of her job is meeting new people and the feeling she gets when she can help someone’s pet feel better.
Angela has 2 dogs, a chihuahua mix named Zexter and a beagle named Charlie.
Ashley has been in the veterinary industry for over five years. Her favorite part of the job is being able to help people by providing care for their pets. She has three cats, Leo a Maine Coon mix, Lea a domestic medium, and Luna a Domestic short hair.
JoAnna has worked in the veterinary industry since 2016. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new people and getting to know their furry family members! She has 3 pets: Bronx, a Cur Hound mix; Crash, a tabby DSH; and Haze, a black DSH.
Krystal has been in the veterinary industry for over three years. She enjoys working with the fur babies and making her clients and patients happy. She has a Doberman named Bailey, a Pit Bull named Karma, and a cat named Belle.
Lisa has been grooming for over 10 years and her favorite part of the job is working with the dogs and cats that come in! She has two dogs; Molly, a Pomeranian and Chupie, a Papillon as well as two cats Simba and Middle.
Nia has been in the veterinary industry since 2013. She also attended the Florida Institute of Technical Arts in Orlando. Her favorite part of the job is walking into the hospital and not knowing what to expect! She also loves working with different animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds.
In her spare time, she is a cheerleading coach for a little league team and she enjoys relaxing and sharing laughs with her friends and family. She also likes to spend time with her Shih Tzu, Pineapple. Nia also volunteers at the Humane Society.
Roxanne enjoys spending her time with her grandkids & family cookouts. She has a big family that keeps her busy. She has been in the veterinary industry for four years, bathing, preping, cleaing, nail trims, & booking appointments. Her favorite part of the job is helping the animals and gaining more experience. She owns a Labradoodle named Blackjack. She loves to spend time grooming animals and outdoor activites.
Shannen has been in the veterinary industry since 2016 and loves working with animals and their owners. Her favorite part of the job is being able to help clients be knowledgeable enough to take the best care of their pets. She currently has an American Cocker Spaniel, Nala, who was given to her as a college graduation present. She has always had a passion for animals both exotic and domestic. Shannen earned her Bachelors degree in zoology and she also interned at a zoo working with mammals in 2014.
Tanya has been in the veterinary industry for 10 years. Her favorite part of the job is caring for animals in a medical and emotional capacity. She has many pets, including a mixed breed named Sadi, a DSH named Fiji, a chihuahua named Flaco, a DSH named Soy Sauce, a pit mix named Bella, a boston terrier named Tyson, a persian named Cirrus, and 2 snakes.
Yvette’s favorite part of the job is collecting samples, running labs, and getting to know each patient. She can’t choose just one! She has a boxer name Diesel, a pit bull name Chevelle, and a 11 years old chihuahua name Junior who lives back home with her mom. She is passionate and loves what she does. Knowing she is helping pets is all she needs to make a day complete.
Brianna joined the team in 2017 and has enjoyed gaining experience with us. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with so many different animals in so many different situations.
She has a Lab mix named Sadie May and a Maine Coon named Buddy. She loves to go to the beach and go on adventures with her puppers.
